Sandra Ussery Smith, age 81, of Sanford, NC, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital with her family by her side.

She was born in Lee County on November 23, 1942 to the late Emery Taylor Ussery and Clara Bell Mann Ussery.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Marie Stein.  Sandra was a loving, witty and hardworking lady.  She loved to laugh and had a great sense of humor.  Other than her family, she loved animals.  She took great care to make sure any animal that came around her house was fed and her husband will make sure that continues in her honor.  For 25 years she enjoyed line dancing and Tia Chi at the Enrichment Center in Lee County.

She is survived by her husband Adrian Leonard Smith, Jr., son Frankie Pruett and wife Carla; step-daughter Lora Wright and husband Steve; step-grandchildren Marissa Thomas, Katie Warren and husband Troy, Jamie Coakley and husband Matt, Steven Wright; niece Tiffany Stein and great-nephew Max Stein.  She is also survived by other close family and friends.
