JOY THOMAS GARNER: May 14, 1943 - June 2, 2014

Mrs. Joy Ruth Thomas Garner, 71, of Carthage, passed away on Monday, June 2, 2014 at Pinelake Nursing Home in Carthage.

A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Cox Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Darrell Garner officiating.  Burial will follow in Shallow Well Church Cemetery in Sanford.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Joy was born in Broadway, North Carolina on May 14, 1943 to Elton and Ruth Thomas.  She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend and will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Jerry Garner; sons, Christopher Allen of Red Springs, Marty Garner, Scott Garner, Dennis Garner all of Carthage; sister, Kay Papa of New Jersey; six grandchildren, Austin, Caleb, Aseneth, Cage, Sarah, Zoe, and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elton and Ruth Thomas; brother, Rex Thomas.
