Doris Lee Patterson September 15, 1943 – March 18, 2011

Doris was born in Carthage and lived in Sanford.  When she was 18, she met John Purvis,
a soldier stationed in Ft. Bragg, whom she married a year later.  When their first child
was 6 months old, they moved to John's hometown-Magnolia, Texas and resided there for the next 48 years.  They had a wonderful marriage and a prosperous hardware and lumber company in which they worked side-by-side for 23 years.  Doris enjoyed fishing, gardening and raising her 3 children.  She had a zest for life and a wild sense of humor!  Doris could let the good times roll with her love of music, dancing and being surrounded by family and friends. 

She is survived by her husband John Purvis, 3 children: Steve, Carmen and Joni Kay and 6 grandchildren. Her sisters Loraine and Clara and her brother Ray all still reside in the Sanford area.

Doris had on heck of a dash!
